The maxi dress is a spring-must have for every wardrobe. It’s easy, effortless and comfortable. It’s my go-to piece for weekend wear or even traveling! Jumping into a soft cotton maxi can feel like you’re wearing pajamas while still looking stylish!

This level of comfort can make it hard to wear anything else this season … and now you don’t have to! Today, I’ll show you how to get the most out of your maxi by giving you nine easy ways to wear it!

Rules to wear by:

Maxi dresses are perfect for those lazy days where comfort rules all. Keep it casual by pairing your maxi with Converses and a cool leather jacket, or dress it up with sassy stilettos and a red lip. You can turn any maxi dress into a skirt by layering a cropped top over, or break up the look with a thick belt in a contrasting color. The maxi also pairs perfectly with denim: try a denim jacket or denim vest with a bright scarf and gladiators. You can even take your maxi out for a dinner date with a statement necklace and wedges or to the office with a bright blazer and heels.

Maxi dresses can also be great for hiding some of your not-so-favorite features. Short girls can look taller, and curvy girls thinner all with the right maxi!

Measure up – The short girl’s guide to Maxis:

For the longest time I refused to wear a maxi! I’m 5-foot nothing and I always looked like I was drowning in fabric, until I grew a little… with my shoe choice! Shorties like me, can look inches taller (and therefore thinner) by picking a maxi that’s a little too long and pairing it with a sky-high wedge. This will give the illusion of height and keep you looking long and lean. To amplify this look, belt your maxi at your smallest point and wear your hair up in a topknot for that extra height!

Forever flattering – The curvy girl’s guide to Maxis:

If you’re curvy, a loose maxi will do nothing for your body. Instead, pick a maxi with a fitted silhouette or a synched waist. If you fall in love with a slouchy maxi, go for a V-neck style and create a shape with a wide belt worn at your smallest point. These will play off your curves while drawing the eye to your waist to create a slimming, hourglass shape… and who doesn’t want that!
