Bring Back Bow Ties

If Justin Timberlake can “bring sexy back,” then surely 11-year-old Mo Bridges can bring back the bow tie.

I’ve long been a proponent of the old-fashioned neckwear and am beyond ecstatic that it’s making a comeback. There’s just something about a man in glasses and a bow tie. Swoon…

I’m even more excited to see a young Black man making a profit off the trend. The Memphis-based preteen is the visionary and CEO behind Mo’s Bows, which was established in 2011. That’s right, he started his business when he was just 9 years old!

According to Mo, he began making bow ties from his grandmother’s scrap fabrics because he couldn’t find any cool ones to wear.

“I like to wear bow ties because they make me look good and feel good,” he says on his website. “Designing a colorful bow tie is just part of my vision to make the world a fun and happier place.”

The bow ties, available for purchase on Etsy, range in price from $25 to $50.
