Need Money? Take Advantage of Holiday Jobs
Yes, the holidays are a wonderful time to reconnect with family and friends over good food. But it’s also the time of year when many of us spend far more than what we have in the bank. If you look at your budget and find that your income is less than your expenses or that you’re just breaking even, it’s time to take action. Get one of the many holiday jobs available in order to offset expenses and just earn extra money this season.
Get Crafty. Reinvent yourself this holiday season and use your creative side to bring in additional income. Gift wrapping, making gift baskets, secret shopping, or holiday decorating are ways to make bringing in extra money fun.
Apply Yourself. Most retailers will be extremely busy during the holiday season. Why not jump on board and enjoy the adrenaline rush of the massive crowds, bright colors, and Christmas music throughout your day? Stores such as Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Walmart, and Toys “R” Us hire by the masses during this time of year and provide flexible hours. An added bonus for working retail this holiday season is having the ability to get store discount toward your own shopping.
Get a Load of This. The need for package handlers will increase drastically during the holiday season. If your preference is to stay away from the bright lights and rowdy crowds, retail warehouses may be the place to grab some extra cash this season. Many warehouses offer graveyard shifts that would not interfere with your traditional work schedule.
Stand and Deliver. The need to move millions of packages Americans send to one another this holiday season will likely increase. FedEx, UPS, and DHL are other venues to help bring in funds to add to your shopping experience. These companies have job openings for more than truck driving; customer service reps and call center specialists are also needed this time of year.
Go from Offline to Online. Let’s not forget that the online shopping experience is becoming the new shopping norm. Amazon.com, for example, looks to hire over 50,000 seasonal employees based off of last year’s sales. If you shop online, check out the same online stores to apply and earn some extra cash this season.
Bottom line: Seasonal jobs are a great way to earn additional income for employees with different levels of experience. Look out for employee discounts and use any saved cash toward your holiday purchases and to fatten up your savings account.
