Black History Month: Soul Food Snatchers


Known as hoecake, “turn meal & flour” and millet bread, cornbread is a fixture in most African American households; whether it’s from a box or homemade we have all experienced this rich, cake-like bread. A riff of an African slave dish called fufu, the simplicity of this side, comprised of boiling water and flour, would evolve from flattened sheets to moist squares welcoming milk, whole kernels of corn, peppers and even artisanal cheeses for in-depth flavors.
