Black Excellence in Education
Congratulations are in definite order for five African-American students who received the Rhodes Scholarship award for 2015.
Robert A. Fisher, Rachel V. Harmon, Ridwan Y. Hassen, Tayo A. Sander II and Sarah E. Yerima are among the 32 students who will study at the University of Oxford in England with all expenses paid for two to three years.
The prestigious Rhodes Scholarship is an award known for its international study and “arguably the most famous academic award available to American college graduates,” Elliot F. Gerson, American Secretary of the Rhodes Trust said in a statement. Receiving such an honor, acknowledges not only academic success but also that of outstanding character, integrity, leadership and commitment to others and to the common good.
Students were selected out of a pool of 877 of their peers and endorsed by 305 different colleges and universities.
