First impressions are everything!  The first impression of your big day is given in the form of your invitations, but come wedding day, that role belongs to the welcome table.  Long gone are the days of the simple guest book table – welcome your guests to the ceremony and reception with a wow!

At the Ceremony: Welcome tables are not only the location of the guest book, programs, and card box/bird cage, these tables also serve as a beautiful decorative element.

This welcome table vignette is adorable and creative, yet functional.  Perfect for a classic rustic wedding focus or a couple with a love for writing and newspapers.

Adding family photos, specifically of family wedding photos over generations, is always a great way to give guests a feeling of love before they walk into your ceremony.  An array of nice frames and flowers help bring in the décor elements.

Use an elegant vintage piece of furniture as the stage for your welcome table. This baroque console table and mirror bring in a hint of elegance and romance.

At the Reception: The escort card table is another great way to execute WELCOME with a WOW.  Beautiful escort card tables offers visual excitement and functionality as your guests search for their seating assignment.

WOW is an understatement!  This floral tree is both visually exciting and engaging because the guests have to search the branches for their names.

If you use this type of escort card element, here’s a tip: Place the  names in alphabetical order on the branches to make the searching process a little easier.  I would also add a few extra minutes to cocktail “hour” to allow guests to find their cards and enjoy the rest of the hour.

This elegant layout is a beautiful and creative way to set the tone for the day. Your guests will be treated and served on your wedding day…hence the use of silver serving trays and cake platters.

Brides on a budget can also create some wow at the wedding reception. Here is a cost conscious reception table that is creative and classic.

Whether your wedding is simple or extravagant, take a few extra moments to style your welcome table with visual and functional purpose. Make your guests feel both WELCOME and WOW’ed!!!
