Games To avoid dull dinner conversation, add a bit of spice with a game. Try this dinner party favorite. Before your guests arrive, brainstorm phrases, write or print the phrase on a small piece of paper and place them under each person’s plate. When everyone sits down, have them read the note to themselves and memorize it.

As the dinner progresses, each guest has to slip their phrase into the conversation, without the others noticing. Be creative! Come up with fun and interesting phrases like, “I eat 20 cantaloupes a day” or “Have you tried scorpion?” The goal is for each guest to figure out when another guest is using an assigned phrase. If they’re able to slip it into conversation naturally without anybody noticing, they win.
