Bridesmaids: Gifting the Girls
Welcome to Wedding Wisdom! Every week, wedding planner Tami Smallwood-Brown, CEO of blush|WEDDING & EVENT PLANNING FIRM gives tips to help you plan your dream nuptials from engagement to “I do.” This week, Tami makes suggestions for the perfect bridesmaids’ gifts.
Whether your bridesmaids are sisters, childhood friends, co-workers, or friends from college, your bridesmaids are a huge part of your life. Because they have also agreed to be a large part of your big day, it’s customary to give them a gift to show your appreciation for supporting you through this huge transition in your life.
Selecting gifts for these lovely ladies may seem simple, but it can go wrong. Here are a few ideas to keep you on your bridesmaids’ good side:
Make it practical: The gift should be something that can be used (and that they would want to use) after the wedding. What girl doesn’t love a nice clutch? These cute options by Lauren Conrad and Nneka Saran would make any bridesmaid love you for life!
Make it personal: Personalized tote bags are one of my favorite options. Totes can be used alone or as packaging for other gifts. Robes are another great option. Take this gift up a notch by having it monogrammed with your bridesmaids’ nickname. Use her favorite colors to include a true reflection of each girl.
Make it sentimental. Making your gift reflective of your relationship with each girl is priceless! A framed collage or photo/scrapbook reflecting on your time together as friends with a personal note of gratitude is an awesome idea and will truly be heartfelt.
Whatever you do, avoid the cliché wedding-related gift. Although it can be tempting to give what I call “go-to gifts,” try to stay clear of wedding day jewelry or makeup. Your girls’ gifts should be for them – not for your wedding day. If you do select this option, make sure you include it in package with other gifts.
