Giving in to Wedding Weight Loss
On New Year’s Eve last year, a mutual friend asked if I’d planned to diet for my November nuptials.
I shrugged and replied “no.” Thinking to myself, Why should I? And that was that.
But somewhere between last December (when I ordered my dress) and now (less than a month until my first fitting), I managed to gain about 10 pounds. Ughhh!
I could go on and on and blame the polar vortex and expensive gym memberships as
reasons….excuses as to why there’s a little bit more of me to love these days. But they’re just that–excuses.
Now, I’m not saying I’m trying to lose an entire dress size. That is not my goal and it’s unrealistic. I do, however, want to make sure the dress actually fits when I return to Kleinfeld next month.
This spring, I finally committed to a gym membership and this summer, I downloaded the My Fitness Pal to track my calorie intake and workouts. So far, I’ve lost about three pounds. Slow and steady wins the race! 😉
Besides, it’s more important to actually be healthy so you won’t catch me doing any two-week juice cleanses or fad diets–a “hangry” (unpleasant combo of hungry and angry) bride is an unhappy bride. This weight didn’t come on overnight and sure it as heck won’t be gone with so-called “easy fixes.”
