Tying the Knot

4 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Videographer

After hiring a caterer, a florist, a photographer and a DJ and/or band for your wedding, a videographer may seem like an unnecessary expense.

But it doesn’t have to be a splurge. Just like photographers, there is a videographer for every budget.

Our videographer (Andre Sturdivant of Understand the Vision in Washington, D.C.) offers various packages at different price points from $1,200 to $2,400. But seeing your grandma lead the entire wedding party in the Wobble? Priceless!

Originally, Jeff wasn’t entirely on board with hiring a videographer, but I managed to convince him with the following four reasons:

1. Capture timeless memories in motion. Sure, you can look at pictures of your first dance. But imagine reliving it in real-time!

2. Get to see all the moments you missed. More than likely, you and your significant other will be getting ready separately. A wedding video allows you to see what was happening on his/her end or maybe a funny moment by one of your guests.

3. Everyone gets to be part of the fun. So your third cousin twice removed couldn’t make it to the wedding? No problem. You can share the highlights with faraway family and friends.

4. It’ll be cool to watch one day with your children. As proof that their parents were once upon a time young and cool … or not so much.
