Be-Lifted

Tell us your love story: Bride: We met at Wayne State University when I was directing a casting call for senior and advanced student films. Calvin came through the auditions with his cousin. Although he was asked to audition for the films, instead Calvin shared his testimony with me while I was at the registration table. I was touched by his story and his openness in sharing it with me.

When did you know that your partner was the one? Groom: When God told me and I got the confirmations, I knew Kim was the one. Bride: The first day I met Calvin I knew there was something special about him. He was anointed. I prayed that day that when I did get married, I would marry someone just like him. Years later, God answered my prayer and I married Calvin.

What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day? Bride: Both Calvin and I agree there were many moments that day. We were blessed by our church leaders, ministers and bridal party praying for us and anointing us with oil prior to the ceremony. During the ceremony and reception, I remember his smiling face, lots of joy and laughter, holding hands, each tear-jerking dance, and being surrounded by people we love. Another one of the most memorable moments from our wedding day was the special broom presentation presented by Pastor Mike Dexter. The broom, handcrafted by April Cobb of Tender Moments, was ushered in with the beat of the drums followed by the jumping of the broom.

What’s the key to success in your relationship? Both: God is the key to the success of our relationship. We are living lives that are directed by Christ. We pray together, read the Word together and have learned the fundamental importance of communication within our relationship. But most importantly, we have to be led by God for everything. We are Directed P.A.T.H. (People Anointed Through Him).
