Tell us your love story. Both: We met briefly in Jan 1995 at Café Lautrec, a Brazilian jazz club in Adams Morgan, D.C. We met later that week for dinner and we hit it off. In the weeks and months that followed, we went on several dates and explored all the best restaurants and nightlife D.C. offered. We had similar goals; we both wanted to be married and we wanted children. About three months into the relationship, Patrick proposed over dinner in Atlantic City. We were engaged for a little over a year.
When did each of you know your partner was the one?
Groom: I knew very soon. Her beauty, sense of humor and similar family background made me fall in love quickly. Bride: I knew he was the one because he was so easy breezy and kind. He always put my needs before his and he was great eye candy.
What have you learned about marriage over the years?
Both: Appreciate every day because tomorrow is not promised. It’s not easy; stick with it.
What advice would you give to young married couples?
Both: Focus on the good times and fun and they will multiply over the years.
What legacy do you hope your marriage will leave?
Both: Life has more purpose when you have someone to share it with.
