Tell us your love story: Bride: We met at church through mutual friends. I am originally from Denver, Colorado and we had friends at our individual churches who thought we should meet. At a church event, James saw my smile and discovered I was the “new woman” from Denver. After speaking with a friend, I found him on Facebook and requested him as a friend. After a few messages about family and church, we exchanged phone numbers; went on 3 dates and made it official in November 2009.
When did you know that your partner was the one? Bride: For me, after dealing with a few life changes, he never left my side. He always prayed with me and for me and I never had anyone to do such an honorable gesture. For James, he knew I was the one after supporting him through his process of becoming a Deacon in church, as well as being his support through life changes and situations. He stated he has never felt love and support in this way.
How did he propose? Bride: James proposed in front of my family (Mom, Dad, and Sister). He came over on Valentine’s Day with a pink and blue bag. In the blue bag was a bear dressed in a tuxedo; in the pink bag was a bear in a wedding dress. He asked for my hand, I stood in front of him and he expressed how much he loves me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
What’s the key to the success of your relationship? Bride & Groom: Prayer and communication are the keys to our relationship. We know nothing in our relationship is possible without God. Communication is vital to understand and grow together.
