Tell us your love story. Groom: We met while I was at home on military leave. I was introduced to my spouse by my sister while I was in route to a date with my girlfriend. My current spouse became my best friend. Bride: We met on his mother’s porch on a warm, summer’s evening and 13 months later we were married.
When did each of you know your partner was the one? Groom: On our first date to the movie as friends, I had forgotten my wallet and Rose paid. I knew she was the one for me. Bride: It wasn’t one memorable event. It was a series of special times as we communicated via long distance.
What have you learned about marriage over the years? Groom: Trust and believe in each other while trusting and believing in God. Bride: A successful marriage is a process of continually renewing your faith in God and expressing your love to each other.
What advice would you give to young married couples? Groom: Rely on biblical guidance such as found in Proverbs 3:4-5 (Trust in the Lord) etc. Bride: All couples should get to know each other before they say, “I do.”
What legacy do you hope your marriage will leave? Groom: Realize marriage is like life; you will always either be in a storm, coming out of a storm or going into a storm. Trust God during the storm. Bride: The legacy I hope to leave is a legacy of faith and love – a peace that passes all understanding.
