Tell us your love story: Groom: Kandace and I first met eight years ago at a friend’s baby shower, but I was happily married and she was dating someone.

When did you know that your partner was the one? Groom: After my divorce was finalized, I began talking to Kandace multiple times a day and when she finally got a chance to visit me in Atlanta, we really hit it off and wanted to take our relationship to the next level.

How did he propose? Groom: I arranged to meet with Kandace’s parents before I proposed to her. I arrived in Memphis hours before I was expected and met her parents for the first time, as I wanted to have her father’s blessing before I proposed. I surprised my wife by proposing to her at a hotel in Southaven, Mississippi, with all of her family and best friend present. The suite was decorated with rose petals, candles, chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling cider. Her family hid in the bathroom until we came into the suite and then everyone walked out surprising her. I then got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

What’s the key to the success of your relationship? Groom: The key to the success of our relationship is putting God first in everything that we do. We must also always have love, trust, honesty and transparency in our marriage. We both truly believe that God put us together and we will do whatever it takes to make our life-long commitment a joyful and fun event.

Why do you want to be included in JET love? Groom: I want to be included in JET love because I want others to see that just because one relationship doesn’t work and someone tells you that they don’t want you anymore, there is always someone else out there for you. Just be patient, do the right thing and have the faith of a grain of mustard seed.
