Tell us your love story: Bride: Over five years ago, I did a wedding vow renewal ceremony for a close friend who is now my sister-in-law. She, along with her husband who happens to be my husband’s brother, tried effortlessly to connect us. Throughout the years it was never the right moment because we were leading different lives. After attending an event for my husband’s brother in January 2015, we became good friends. We talked and shared with one another and realized we had so much in common.
When did you know that your partner was the one? Groom: I knew Tamika was the one for me when we connected at a party for my brother Rudy and we talked in the car for over two hours. Bride: I knew that Corey was the one for me when we stopped talking for a few weeks. I missed him dearly and realized that I didn’t want to live life without him.
How did he propose? Bride: Corey came to me and said he didn’t want to live life the same way he had been doing. He wanted to be obedient and honor God and then after a serious conversation, Corey asked me to marry him.
What’s the key to the success of your relationship? Both: God first, communication, respect and harmony.
Why do you want to be included in JET love? Bride: For years, Corey and I have followed JET magazine from the stories and historical moments to the JET Beauty of the Week and Weddings. The publication is something that is so genuine and known for celebrating love. We believe our love represents what JET exemplifies.
