Tell us your love story: Both: Sometimes it only takes having a mutual friend to meet the love of your life. It all started at Tony’s recording studio in Chicago after Deetria was invited by a neighbor-friend who was also one of Tony’s clients. I walked into Tony’s studio and after saying hello, Tony and I were immediately engaged in conversation. Before you knew it, I had all of his attention, and he forgot he was supposed to be focused on engineering his session! With a mutual interest in creative arts, we exchanged information on a “networking basis.” However, at the end of the night, Tony gave Deetria a small gift unexpectedly, which was a printed out photo of some pictures they had taken. I asked him to sign it with a note and when I read it it said, “It was a pleasure to meet you. Looking forward to getting to know you better,” the rest is history.
When did you know that your partner was the one? Bride: He pursued and courted me with consistency. I didn’t have to tell him how to treat me as a lady. We’ve talked everyday since we met on Dec. 16th, 2012 and still have’t ran out of things to talk about. Groom: I knew she was the one during our first date. She exuded such a positive and radiant energy that captured my heart immediately.
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day? Bride: My most memorable moment was our bride v. groom dance battle! He always claims that “he doesn’t dance” but he took one for the team and showed out leaving me and our guests shocked! (Laughs) Groom: Seeing my beautiful bride and queen walk towards me down the aisle. It was a moment filled with excitement and joy.
What’s the key to success in your relationship? Bride: Being friends and genuinely loving to be around each other while doing it all or nothing! We are willing to grow and learn by communicating and through devotionals to be the best we can for ourselves, and each other! Groom: Communication, love and respect.
