Brittani Saafir & Everette Callaway

Brittani Saafir & Everette Callaway

Venue: Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights, OH

Honeymoon: St. Lucia

Home: Hyattsville, MD

• Brittani is an epidemiologist for the DC Dept. of Health. Everette is a revenue analyst for Blackboard. The two met in 2006 during fall move-in at Howard. When they spent their first summer apart, the couple realized they didn’t want to be separated again. Now, seven years later, they don’t have to.

He knew he was in love when…

They attended Everette’s family picnic.  He knew that this was the woman he’d be spending the remainder of his life with.

She knew she was in love when…

She decided to take a 10-hour train ride to Minneapolis to visit him.  She knew then that she would travel to the ends of the earth to be with him.

In 10 years we will…

Be raising our awesome children and doing lots of traveling internationally.

Before the groom got married, he wishes someone had told him…

Your marriage will be your own, it’ll be different than anything that anyone could explain to you, cherish it and love your mate with everything you have. That, and Brittani will ALWAYS be right!

Before the bride got married, she wishes someone had told her…

You will both continue to grow and change, as long as you do so together, it will work out.  And, if you compliment Everette’s cooking you’ll get a couple days off in the kitchen!

Our favorite activity to do together is…

Pretty much anything we can do together, be it sipping wine on the National Mall, trekking through the many unique DC neighborhoods or watching Jeopardy, while having dinner.

Our nicknames for each other are…

She is “Boo Bear” and/or “Kiddeaux” they originally started as a play on the idea of pet names, but later stuck; he is “Honey” or “Honeybun” because he’s such a sweetheart.

Our favorite place to spend time together is…

The Cleveland Park area of DC. They have several restaurants that we like to frequent and even a pottery studio!  It’s also home to the national zoo (we were both biology majors, so this gives us a break from the urban setting).

Our song is…

“Love is You” by Chrisette Michele.

Our perfect date night is…

Dinner somewhere new and exciting and a stroll along the National Mall to see the monuments lit up at night.
