Akilah Quallo & Wilfred Rivera

Akilah Quallo and Wilfred Rivera

Akilah Quallo & Wilfred Rivera

Venue: The Signature Grand in Davie, FL

Honeymoon: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Home: Naples, FL

Akilah is a registered nurse at Naples Community Hospital. Wilfred is a high school teacher at Collier County Public Schools. The two met at an R&B concert and began a relationship shortly after. One Valentine’s Day, instead of focusing on their love for each other, both got baptized and rededicated their lives to the Lord. The newlyweds keep God first and believe “when you love, everything else will fall into place.”

He knew she was in love when…

Akilah showed up to his college football game wearing a shirt with his number and name on the back and he saw her on the sidelines cheering for him.

She knew she was in love when…

She knew it was okay to truly open herself to Wilfred after being hurt before. It was the feeling of being comfortable and safe and allowing him in that let her know it was okay to fall in love.

In 10 years we will…

Be parents, and successful at whatever God’s plans are for us in our lives. Whether it’s in our careers or to the next level with our spiritual walks with Him.

Before the groom got married, he wishes someone had told him...

To just nod your head and say “yes” to whatever she says.

Before the bride got married, she wishes someone had told her…

Start getting into the habit of working out at the gym because married life can make you really comfortable.

Our favorite activity to do together is…

Going to the Miami Heat basketball games.

Our nicknames for each other are…

“Pooh Bear” for Wilfred, even though he’s hard on the outside, but when it comes to Akilah, he has a very soft spot for her. “Beautiful” for Akilah because he feels it speaks for itself.

Our favorite place to spend time together is…

At home, relaxing and watching a movie together while cuddling. With both of our busy schedules, this doesn’t always happen as often as we’d like it to.

Our song is…

Charlie Wilson’s “You Are,” which was our wedding song.

Our perfect date night is…

A night spent together where it is all about us and getting dressed up to go somewhere to have a nice relaxing dinner, and enjoying each other’s company.
