T-Boz on Surviving Sickle Cell & Brain Tumor

By// S. Tia Brown
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins battles sickle cell anemia, and survived a brain tumor. Now, the music industry veteran is focused on one thing: Adding a little more TLC to her life. Nobody understands the the true meaning of pain better than Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. The singer, who rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of the record-setting trio TLC, has lived with sickle cell anemia her entire life. Then in 2006, her health took an even more severe turn for the worse after she was diagnosed with a potentially fatal brain tumor. “I’ve been through a lot that I’ve never talked about,” says the traditionally private star, who reveals the growth had been developing for nearly six years. “The hardest part was not knowing if I was going to die, because I have a daughter. Life is real different when you have somebody to
live for.”
