Getting to Know Freema Agyeman of ‘The Carrie Diaries’
By// S. Tia Brown
Seasoned performer Freema Agyeman’s real life is very 50 shades of grey— but not in the way you would think. “Before The Carrie Diaries my wardrobe consisted of a lot of
grey and black,” she tells JET. “Now I’m really opening up.”
Agyeman, 33, plays Larissa Loughton, a savvy, fabulously-garbed fashion editor in the new CW series, a prequel to HBO’s popular Sex and the City (SATC). “They feel like very different products,” she says about the two shows. “Diaries is more of a coming-of-age story,
a period piece set during the 1980s, and SATC was contemporary.”
Although her character is all things New York, Agyeman is not. “I feel like a wide-eyed Carrie Bradshaw myself,” the London-born actress says of her temporary relocation to the Big Apple. “Plus, I have my cottage in the English countryside and my boyfriend is there.”
