LisaRaye McCoy may be the former first lady of Turks and Caicos, but one title still reigns in the brassy actress’ DNA: Queen of Candor.

The Chicago native is funny and refreshingly authentic in a girlfriend-giving-it-to-you-straight type of way. Just as her seemingly timeless beauty (she’s now 44) evokes admiration, her keeping-it-100 commentary engenders warmth. Even more intriguing is her bluntness, which creates an instant sister-girl connection, but also serves as a sharp reminder you should never get on her bad side.

This brand of bluntness makes it surprising that only now we get the full story behind what went down between her and former Single Ladies co-star Stacey Dash, who officially departed the popular show last September after rumors of on-set bickering and incessant “divatude.” And LR has been uncharacteristically tight-lipped about what sparked their beef and her role, if any, in Dash’s departure. But that’s about to change. In an exclusive interview with JET, the actress opens up about trials on set— then and now— and more. “This is more work than I’ve ever done,” the voluptuous vixen reveals about her grueling 15-hour shoots five days a week. “Quite frankly, it’s a lot more work than I care to do.”

That’s just the beginning.
