Chatting With: Angie Stone
By// Joyce E. Davis
At 50, Stone’s career has taken her everywhere from the stage to reality television. Still, it’s the consummate musician’s ability to pen inspirational songs that keeps her endeared to the public. And she’s ready to serve up more. In the intro to Stone’s newest album, Rich Girl (out September 25), the soul singer harmonizes about real music. She certainly delivers, pointedly circling back to the soulful sounds her core audience loves. “I owe it to my fans to be who I am,” Stone says. “There is nothing fake about me.”
