Photo Tribute to Louis Stokes
Louis Stokes was a man of bravery and strength. During his 15-year term as an Ohio congressman, he took on tough cases ranging from scandals to assassinations.
In 1969, Stokes made history by becoming the first Black male to join Congress, a position which catapulted him into a role where he was highly respected and admired for his positive and progressive influence.
Stokes succumbed to brain and lung cancer on August 18, 2015.
