Harry Belafonte and David & Janet Offensend were honored this past Thursday at the Annual Restore Brooklyn Benefit Gala in New York City. This annual event is hosted by the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and included presenters such as board member Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Kathryn Wylde, president and CEO of the Partnership for New York City.
CBS TV News Anchor Maurice DuBois moderated the event that highlights BSRC’s work with job training, education programs, social services, arts programming and financial counseling to support and strengthen the community.
Proceeds from the benefit gala are used to fund the BSRC’s programs and services, which promote economic self-sufficiency, family stability and growth, the arts and culture and the overall quality improvement of Brooklyn neighborhoods.
Belafonte was introduced via telephone by Robert F. Kennedy Jr and was not in attendance due to health issues.
