Chicago Protesters March for Sterling, Castile
About 100 Chicago protesters marched through the downtown area on Thursday evening demanding justice for the families of two Black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, who were fatally shot earlier this week by police in Louisiana and Minnesota. The demonstrators attempted to take their message inside the annual Taste of Chicago food festival, but Chicago Police halted their efforts. Two people were arrested for blocking traffic on Michigan Avenue.
Sterling was killed in Baton Rouge while selling CDs; Castile was shot by an officer during a traffic stop in suburban St. Paul. Both shootings were on mobile phones and sent through social media where they went viral.
