Zendaya is Getting Her Own Barbie
Zendaya has rocked some head-turning outfits on the red carpet over the past few years, but her most famous look, where she rocked a champagne-colored gown with faux-locs cascading down her back during the 2015 Oscars, caused the biggest stir.
While some people (aka Fashion Police‘s Giuliana Rancic) criticized her hair, many others adored it. Mattel is one of the admirers. That’s why the company is creating a doll that emulates that very moment.
The toy corporation is celebrating the starlet, who eloquently spoke out against the disparagement in an Instagram post, for encouraging girls to “raise their voices,” and the doll will debut at the Barbie Rock ‘N Royals Concert Experience on Sept. 26 in Los Angeles, which the 19-year-old is hosting.
“I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices,” Zendaya said in a release. “It’s a positive message to send to my fans, including my nieces who are coming with me to the concert.”
Here’s a sneak of what Zendaya in Barbie form will look like.
