Rap Queen YoYo Returns to the Mic
It’s been a nice minute since we’ve heard hip-hop lyricist YoYo hit the mic.
And no, she’s not dropping a new tape or anything like that, but the femcee will be on the mic as co-host of the nationally syndicated Cafe Mocha Radio as it heads into its sixth season.
Rated as the top weekend show targeting women, Cafe Mocha hits on compelling topics, exclusive interviews and the latest in urban music. YoYo joins the show with intent to further empower and inspire youth.
“I’m ecstatic to join Loni [Love] and Angelique [Perrin], these women are leaders in their industries, who openly and freely share their personal and professional insights weekly with listeners,” YoYo said in a release sent to JET. “As Café Mocha continues to evolve, I’m looking forward to adding my flavor with anecdotes about my life as an entertainer, mother, philanthropist, and educator.”
The 25-year industry vet, known for classics such as “Can’t Play With my YoYo” and Brandy’s ‘I Wanna Be Down (Remix)’, will be replacing fellow femcee MC Lyte.
Lyte, a co-founder of Cafe Mocha along with Love and Perrin, departed the show in March 2016 to continue her career and philanthropy efforts with the Hip Hop Sisters Foundation.
