WorldStarHipHop is Headed to the Big Screen

The infamous website WorldStarHipHop, most known for its viral street fight videos, is headed to the big screen.

Yep, you heard it right. According to Deadline, the site has inspired a new feature film that has already been backed by Russell Simmons. He will act as one of the producers alongside the site’s founder, Q Worldstar.

Ian Edelman, creator of HBO’s How to Make it in America, pitched the idea and will be writing the screenplay. The project is being scripted for Paramount Insurge, a division of Paramount Pictures devoted to films with smaller budgets.

The filmmakers haven’t spilled the beans on the plot, but they have compared it to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and expect to enter production this fall in New York City.
