Will Smith Slated to Star in NFL Film

A new NFL movie is in the works and actor Will Smith may be tackling the leading role.

The movie won’t cover the typical road to glory story. Instead, it will highlight the league’s concussion problems.

According to The Washington Post, the 7 Pounds star has been in talks with the director of the untitled film, which was inspired by the GQ article titled “Game Brain.”

If Smith signs on, he will play Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic neuropathologist who found chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) while conducting an autopsy on Mike Webster, the former center for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The film, scheduled to begin production in the fall, isn’t the only one of its kind in the works. Two others, one starring Isaiah Washington, are also brewing.
