Will Packer Announces More New Shows

Will Packer is successfully carving his lane and expanding his brand – with no back down.

With recent film success, including the release of seven number-one box office hits – two of which premiered within the same year, the super-producer’s star is rising beyond just the Black audience.

Last week, it was announced that Packer sold two half-hour sitcoms to NBC and the credits continue with a third show that was sold to ABC, entitled Uncle Buck.

The half-hour comedy based on the classic film starring John Candy is about a confirmed loafer, Buck Russell, who avoids working. The change in lifestyle comes when he is forced into adulthood after being recruited to care for his brother’s misbehaving kids.

But wait, there’s more!

Packer recently sold an one-hour script to NBC for an “untitled female buddy cop project. According to a press release, the dramedy centers on two female cops whose personal lives are grittier and more craze-filled than the crime scenes they tackle daily.

Content creation is no easy feat and the way Packer is dishing out films and TV shows, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of these gems were vintage writings and ideas that Hollywood overlooked until hardcore evidence of Packer’s capabilities presented itself.

Up next in theaters for Packer is The Wedding Ringer, starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. It’s expected to open in theaters January 16, 2015. The sequel to Ride Along starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart follows in 2016.
