We’ve Got More Deets On Zendaya’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Character

Zendaya is definitely not playing Mary Jane in Spider-Man: Homecoming, so who on earth is Michelle?

Spider-Man: Homecoming is about to sizzle on the big screen when it hit theaters this summer, but a ton of details surrounding the film is still under wraps. Many Marvel fans are still convinced that the Shake It Up alum actually is MJ. After the MTV Movie and TV Awards, Zendaya told a reporter,

“My character is 100 percent, Michelle, that’s her name, I promise I’m not lying. She’s definitely a different character. This is a character I can have fun with and just really create what I wanted to make her and the director a lot of really cool ideas about how to make her weird and interesting and cool. She says weird things at the wrong time, but that’s why people like her.”

We know that the 20-year old stunner is set to star as Michelle, one of Peter Parker’s nerdy BFF’s, but who exactly is Michelle?

Michelle may or may not be based on the Marvel character Michele Gonzales. In the comics, Michele is Vin Gonzales’ sister and Peter Parker’s former roommate. In the future, she becomes a very cunning and manipulative woman, and she is able to take advantage of Peter Paker.

However, in Spider-Man: Homecoming don’t expect Zendaya’s Michelle to be so saucy. Recently, Zendaya chatted with Teen Vogue describing Michelle as “weird and interesting and cool.” She, “says weird things at the wrong times.[Michelle is] how I feel on the inside,” she added.

We’re just ready to see how the flick all comes together; we seriously are obsessed with this Tom Holland teen-centered Spider-Man reboot.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will soar into theaters on July 7, 2017.
