Well This Is Unexpected! Jennifer Hudson & Adam Sandler Find Love In Netflix’s ‘Sandy Wexler’
Jennifer Hudson has been using her vocals and her acting chops to heat up the big and small screens since her film debut in 2006’s Academy Award winning film, Dream Girls.
Since then, the Oscar winner has done everything from dramas like The Incredible Defeat Of Mister & Pete to comedies like The Three Stooges. This time around the 35-year old Chicago native is mixing it up a bit.
In comedian Adam Sandler’s latest Netflix Original film, Sandy Wexler, Hudson stars as an aspiring singer named Courtney Clarke. Set in 1994, Sandler plays Sandy Wexler a talent agent working in Los Angeles who manages an eclectic bunch of clients who aren’t exactly stars. That all changes when he discovers Courtney at an amusement park. As he tries to propel her tremendous talent into superstardom, Sandy and Courtney fall in love. Hudson isn’t the only star that Sandler has pulled in for this film, Terry Crews, Arsenio Hall, Carl Weathers, Chris Rock, Darius Rucker and others also make cameo appearances in the movie.
Directed by Steve Brill, Sandy Wexler is Adam Sandler’s third Netflix original film under his Happy Madison Productions company. His first two Netflix Originals, The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over weren’t exactly critical hits. However, Sandy Wexler looks just a bit different. Perhaps Sandler is returning to his ’90s roots. Some of his best work were in films like The Waterboy, Big Daddy, and Happy Gilmore.
Sandy Wexler is set to hit the streaming service on Friday, April 14th, After Sandy Wexler drops, we can expect one more film of Sandler’s on Netflix before his contract is fulfilled.
