One of the biggest mysteries surrounding NBC’s astounding freshman series This Is Us is the catastrophic event that leads to patriarch Jack Pearson’s death.

However, that isn’t the only storyline that will be unraveled in season two. This Is Us just wrapped its first season, and though we’re still trying to dry our tears from all of the heartfelt moments that we spent getting to know the Pearsons over the past 18 episodes, fans are already eager to learn what we might see in season two.

Many fans are still scratching their heads trying to figure out how Rebecca ended up with her deceased husband’s best friend, but Miguel and Rebecca aren’t the only couple whose origin story will be revealed in the fall. In an interview with Variety, This Is Us cast members stated that they have requested more backstory from one couple in particular. Like us, they desperately want to know more about Beth and Randall love story, and Beth as an individual without her family at the center. It looks like the writers over at This Is Us have listened. Susan Kelechi Watson who plays Beth told Variety, “It makes it exciting to go into Seasons 2, and I know we’re going to explore Beth’s life more.”

For those still trying to recover from the devastating loss of William, Randall’s biological father, Ron Cephas Jones who portrayed the charming gentleman told Entertainment Weekly that we will see William again in season 2! William’s return also means that we will probably be seeing more of Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry who portrayed William’s cousin and best friend, Ricky. With all of the family that Randall was able to meet on his trip to Memphis with his father, This Is Us may expand into a much larger world than just the Pearsons.

With its fluid timeline and knack for shocking twists and turns, it’s clear that This Is Us is not about to run out of storylines anytime soon. We just hope we have enough Kleenex on hand to make it through the next two seasons.
