Watch: Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder Documentary
Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder have concocted a powerful body of work with the upcoming release of their collaborative album, Indie 500.
The first single from the project was the street awakening “Every Ghetto,” where Jamla artist Rapsody joined the emcee and offered thought-provoking rhymes.
Kweli’s latest visual, “Which Side Are You On,” takes a documentary-styled approach and stamps the conscience with the numerous cases of police brutality and social injustice that plague our society.
Kweli leads the track with the prominent statement, “Silence is death.”
Directed by Sama’an Ash, the mini doc captures the essence of societal protest and civil disobedience, current and past, while paying homage to the many Black lives lost throughout this year. The imagery in connection with the lyricism is chilling and definitely gets your energy going as it orders you to “get off the bench” and confronts you with the question, “Which side are you on?”
