Watch: Jem And The Holograms Trailer

Jem and the Holograms was a colorful 1980s cartoon that centered around the life of Jerrica Benton and her alter ego Jem. As the singer of an incredibly popular band called the Holograms, Jem transcends from being a small-town girl to a global superstar.

If you’re a fan of the cartoon, then we have good news: Jem and the Holograms will now be a movie. Well that’s kind of good news.

Some fans of the cartoon are taking issue with the film, brought to us by director Jon M. Chu (Step Up series, G.I. Joe: Retaliation). Critics argue that the film is attempting to capitalize off of the cartoon’s cult following by including little to no elements of the original cartoon.

Check out the trailer below:

The film stars Audrey Peeples as Jem, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis.

It’s set to come out this October.
