Watch: J. Cole ‘G.O.M.D.’
North Carolina’s own, J. Cole is bringing messaging back to the art of the music video with G.O.M.D., the latest from his 2014 Forest Hills Drive album. Lyrically, Cole challenges the listener to analyze human relationships and the way we treat one another along with contradictory behaviors.
Visually, with direction from Lawrence Lamont, the storyline presents the recycled warped mentality of racism – White people as the superior – and the battle of house and field slaves.
In the same messaging, various themes are shown, one being that not all white people are the enemy and a subtle acknowledgement of alienation.
It gets deep. Check it out below and discuss in the comments!
