Viola Davis to Produce ABC Drama
Viola Davis is hitting the producer’s seat with a new drama set to air on ABC.
Hmmm, could this be another addition to the suspense and addictive Thursday night line-up, labeled affectionately, #TGIT?
We’re not quite sure, but the show sounds like a good one. Davis, along with her producing partner Julius Tennon, have teamed up with fellow producer Debra Martin Chase (Sparkle) for the legal drama Conviction. The legal drama inspired by Kym Worthy, the chief prosecutor of Wayne County, MI.
If you’re unfamiliar with Worthy and her significance in the legal industry, Google it.
Worthy became the second African-American to serve as country prosecutor in Michigan in 2004. She held an instrumental role in the controversial case involving Detroit’s former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as she filed charges against him. In addition to various high-profiled cases, Worthy is on a campaign to clear a massive backlog of thousands of unprocessed rape test kits in Detroit.
She’s tough and takes no crap.
The script for the legal drama will be penned by Damages writer, Jason Wilborn. Kym Worthy will serve as a consultant on the new series.
Something tells me with Viola Davis behind it and the production team, we will not be disappointed.
I’m here for it!
