‘Underground’ Is Back With Premiere Date & Trailer
Season two of WGN America‘s hit series, Underground, is set to hit television very soon.
In the trailer below, we get a peek at two fresh faces, True Blood star Aisha Hinds, who will be playing Underground Railroad conductor Harriet Tubman, and Sadie Stratton who’ll assume the role of notorious slave catcher Patty Cannon.
Season one pulled in over 3 million total viewers each week and made WGN America history as the most-watched original program ever during its first season. The wins didn’t stop for the show. This past September, the National Museum of African American History and Culture announced that Underground would be screened at the museum, making it the first public program presented at the institution.
“It is so fitting that we will be screening the critically acclaimed television series ‘Underground,’ which introduces Harriet Tubman,” Lonnie Bunch, NMAAC’s director, said earlier this year. “The museum has a number of artifacts on display documenting the life and work of this iconic Underground Railroad operator, Civil War spy and suffragist.”
Sony Pictures Television presidents Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlich called inclusion in the museum an “honor.”
“To be included as the inaugural public program of the Smithsonian’s new National Museum of African American History and Culture is beyond an honor and speaks to the ground-breaking power and culturally significant impact that one television show can have,” they said in a press release.
