The second time is a charm when it comes to love, at least  according to NeNe Leakes.

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member and sitcom actress is set to star in her own spinoff, “I Dream of NeNe,” which premieres Tuesday, September 17 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. In the new docu-series, Leakes marries her previously ex-husband Gregg Leakes.

“We both discussed it. I wasn’t sure I wanted to show the wedding on television,” Leakes says. “I’d always been asked to do a spinoff, but I wasn’t sure about it. But because we broke up on TV and made up on TV, we really wanted everyone to see it this time around.

“We’re not only planning a wedding, but a marriage,” she insists. “There’s a big difference in a wedding and a marriage and is you’re in it for the long haul.”

In the season premiere, Leakes discusses establishing a pre-nup with her soon-to-be husband.

“Pre-nups are not romantic. They’re not sexy. There’s never a ‘right’ time to bring it up,” she admits. “It’s such a difficult thing to talk about, but in real life, it really is about business. I’ve been divorced before and people look at a prenup as a negative and it really isn’t.”

The couple originally wed in Athens, Georgia in 1996 and decided to call it quits after 15 years of marriage. This time around, however, Leakes insists they are more mature.

“We’re very grown, as in adults,” she says. “We’ve both been through things in life. We understand life and relationships much better this time around.

“We were very young at the time,” Leakes says of her first wedding. “I was super nervous the first time we got married. It was hard for me to get down the aisle. This time, not so much. The first time, you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into. The second time, I knew what it was I was getting myself into, so I wasn’t as nervous.”

Nine of Leakes’ friends, or “bridesmaids-zillas,” as she referred to them, stood by her side at the altar. The group included fellow “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey and former cast member Marlo Hampton. The group wore white gowns during the wedding.

“I love all my bridesmaids-zillas,” she shares. “Some of them had never been married before and I wanted to make sure they all felt like a bride and they did. I was really okay with it because I’m really confident. I wanted them to be part of my wedding.”

But it wasn’t all fun and games.

“A couple of them were divas, but I knew that going into it,” Leakes admits. “I knew not all of them were going to get along.”

“The New Normal” star also opened up about her friendship with former RHOA cast member Kim Zoliack, who attended the wedding with her NFL husband Kroy Biermann.

“We have a long relationship and we’ve definitely been through things,” Leakes says. “I would say that we’re cool … I actually miss Kim on the show. I never thought I’d say that in a million years.”

She also squashed rumors about a new RHOA cast member, amid gossip that her friend Mynique Smith was joining the show. Guess RHOA fans will have to tune in to season six this fall to find out the truth!

For now, Leakes is looking forward to seeing her Big Day on TV.

” I haven’t seen myself walk down the aisle,” she says. “So I want to see the wedding because I missed seeing everything!”
