TV Picks: What we’re watching this week

By// Mariah Craddick

What is JET tuning in for this week? Inescapable but oh-so-entertaining talent competitions, witty political comedy sketches, cheesy but endearing musical shows and more:

Lovetown, USA (OWN) Monday, 10/9c

Oprah’s social experiment continues as the citizens of Lovetown, USA continue their quest for love and happiness—with the assistance of relationship expert Paul Carrick Brunson—on a new night.

So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) Tuesday, 8/7c

The dance contestants have been leaping, twirling, booty-popping and cha-chaing for weeks now, all leading up to this week’s season finale. For the first time in SYTYCD history, two winners will be crowned—America’s favorite guy and favorite girl dancer. We’ll be biting our nails in anticipation.

SNL Primetime Election Special (NBC) Thursday, 8/7c

We’re in the heat of election season and that means one thing for SNL: spot-on Presidential impersonations. Jason Sudekis and Jay Pharoah take on Romney and Obama, respectively, in this week’s first election special of the season. We can already feel the LOLs.

Glee (Fox) Thursday, 9/8c

In this week’s episode, the Gleeks take on the tunes of Britney Spears for a second time in the show’s history. Wonder if this one will include the kids visiting the dentist’s office for “drug induced Britney Spears hallucinations” like the last one? Fingers crossed it doesn’t.

Tamar & Vince (WEtv) Thursday, 10/9c

Love her or hate her, the brattiest Braxton—Tamar—is definitely the most entertaining. Her and her hubby Vince’s new show premieres this week and needless to say, we’ll be getting our lives.

Iyanla, Fix My Life (OWN) Saturday, 10/9c

The ultimate “fixer” Iyanla Vanzant is just what the spirit needs by the time the weekend rolls around. On this week’s show, Vanzant helps a son forgive his mother for lying to him about his biological father. Have your tissues on hand.
