Tupac, one of the most iconic names in rap/hip-hop is soon to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. The “WESTSIDEEE” emcee will be celebrated alongside #EBONYPOWER100 awardee Nile Rodgers, Pearl Jam, Journey, Yes, Electric Orchestra, Joan Baez.

The night of glamor will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, April 7th 2017. A few subway stops away from Tupac’s Harlem birthplace. HBO will have the honor of streaming the award show, along with a radio broadcast hosted by Siris XM.

Come March 30th in Cleveland, Tupac fans will be able to check out memorabilia on display at the Rock Hall. A special exhibit for the class of 2017 will be open for all to see.

A statement was made on behalf of the Tupac Estate earlier this morning on Instagram.

“On behalf of the Tupac Estate, we are incredibly honored to announce that Tupac has been selected as one of the 2017 inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thank you to the nominating committee and to his fans who supported his nomination by voting. This award recognizes how Tupac’s message of change and mission to give a voice to those who didn’t have one continues to resonate with millions of people to this day. You are the reason Tupac’s legacy lives on. #RockHall2017.”

We definitely need a few pair of tickets to 2017’s induction to cheer on a historic moment and celebration of black music. Tupac’s words and music will forever be a statement in our community. Check out EBONY’s piece on Tupac speaking nothing but wisdom and realism, here.
