TV picks: What we’re watching this week

Tired of flipping through channel after channel only to find yourself watching the same episode of Law & Order: SVU again? Let JET be your guide. From soap operatic reality series to glitzy award shows, here’s what we’re watching this week:

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Reunion, Pt. 2 (VH1) Monday, 8/7c

Sorry, but we can’t pass this show up. And with the show being the No. 1 cable reality series of the summer (ages 18-49), we know you couldn’t either. On part two of the reunion special, producer Mona Scott-Young sits down with the controversial cast and tries to get to the bottom of all the season hijinks once and for all.

T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle (VH1) Monday, 9/8c and 9:30/8:30c

Keeping things in the Dirty South, our favorite family of the ATL is back with their second season.We’ll get to catch up with all the Harrises, including T.I.’s new gig on Boss, Tiny’s new talk show and the OMG Girlz continued rise to fame. Check the trailer here.

The Democratic National Convention, coverage begins Tuesday, 7/6c

After last week’s Republican National Convention, it’s the Democrats turn to congregate in Charlotte, NC. Speakers will range from First Lady Michelle Obama to actress and Obama Campaign co-chair Eva Longoria. Click here for more details.

Dance Moms (Lifetime) Tuesday, 9/8c

She might be a tad bit cruel, but Abby Lee Miller makes for great television. The larger-than-life dance studio owner picks which dancers will have solos at the national competition in this week’s episode. And their moms will probably bicker and scream and call each other every name under the sun. You know, the usual.

MTV Video Music Awards (MTV) Thursday, 8/7c

Kevin Hart hosts this year’s star-studded VMAs which is sure to be all the buzz. Stars like Frank Ocean, Rihanna, P!nk and Alicia Keys will perform and who knows what kind of crazy antics might go down. You’ll have to tune in to find out.
