TIP Explains Why He Joined Anti-Trump Protests
TIP stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night to discuss his new politically charged EP, Us or Else, and share his reaction to the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States.
Back in September, TIP (as he wants to be called now instead of T.I.), said he was compelled to produce the project after the repeated deaths of unarmed Black citizens at the hands of police. Now, after becoming more vocal about social issues, it’s clear he also refuses to stay silent about the latest election results.
As demonstrators spilled onto the streets of cities across America to protest Trump’s impending presidency, TIP joined them.
While the rapper admitted, “Nobody in their right mind can assume just gathering and going somewhere and showing your incredible disdain for a decision the nation has made that that will actually do anything immediately,” he said he still had to join the protest.
“I voted and I’ve done everything that I could prior to now,” he explained. “But after the decision of the election had happened, I just want to be able to look my kids in the eyes and make sure they know I did everything that the Constitution allows me to do to show my objection to this decision.”
So why hit the streets and record protest albums? TIP made it plain: “I just really want to see the nation head into a better direction.”
So do we.
