Sunday night’s episode of The Bible had folks a-buzzing about one of the actors, who played the role of Satan, and his somewhat uncanny resemblance to President Barack Obama.
Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni was cast for the part, as he’s starred in several faith-based films in the past, including The Ten Commandments, Jeremiah, and David. Twitter users made note of the similarities between Ouazanni and Obama, including conservative TV/radio host Glenn Beck who tweeted: “Anyone else think the Devil in #TheBible Sunday on HIstory Channel looks exactly like That Guy?” Beck uses “That Guy” to refer to Obama because he refuses to call him by his name (*insert eye-roll*).
According to the Huffington Post, the History Channel and executive producers of the miniseries Mark Burnett and Roman Downey call the connection “utter nonsense” and that Ouazanni had been cast as Satanic characters “long before Barack Obama was elected as our President.”
“Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love for our President, who is a fellow Christian,” Downey said. “False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible.”
Well, there’s that. Do you think Ouazanni resembles the President?
