The ’90s Horror Film ‘Flatliners’ Is Coming Back to Life This Fall
It’s a terrible idea to make death a game, which the characters in the forthcoming remake of the 1990 hit film Flatliners find out the hard way. In the horror thriller, five medical students become fascinated by what happens after one of their friends dies but is shortly revived and begins a dangerous experiment that teeters on the line between life and the death.
Using the school’s medical equipment, the group members take turns stopping each other’s hearts for short periods in order to trigger near-death experiences. In doing so, they get a close-up look at what happens after life ends; as they lust for more, however, their experiments become increasingly dangerous. Instead of the joyful abilities they were contented with in the past, the students begin to be haunted by the sins of their pasts. The game of death has dire consequences, and they all soon discover that they must pay the price for trespassing to the other side.
Dope‘s Kiersey Clemons stars as Sophia, while The Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev portrays Marlo. Kiefer Sutherland, who starred in the original alongside Julia Roberts, and Ellen Page also appear in the film.
