Supermodel Joan Smalls is ready to try her hand at acting, and Netflix is about to hook her up.
Smalls, who infamously licked Beyoncé in Queen B’s 2013 Yoncé music video, will make her acting debut in Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy Set It Up. According to Deadline, the film will focus on two overworked and underpaid assistants, Harper (played by Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (played Glen Powell), who are looking to get back at their bosses who treat them horribly by setting them up on a date. Of course, their attempts at playing matchmaker don’t go as planned, and things take an unexpected turn.
Veteran actors Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs will also star in the movie, which is being helmed by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt director Claire Scanlon. As for Smalls, we don’t know much about her role, but we do know that the Puerto Rican native will star as Suze, Charlie’s girlfriend.
The 28-year old took to her Instagram to express her excitement over the project. She wrote, “Words cannot describe this feeling! So extremely lucky and honored to be part of such an insanely talented cast and team. Thank you to EVERYONE who made this possible. #SetItUp #Netflix. Can’t wait for you all to see.”
The film was written by Katie Silberman, who produced the 2016 comedy How to Be Single. According to Deadline, Set It Up will be available to stream in 2018. Of you ask us, it sounds like the perfect Valentine’s Day flick.
