‘Straight Outta Compton’ Wins Big At AAFCA

Award season is officially here! The Grammys announced its selections Monday morning, and the African American Film Critics Association came next with the release of its top picks.

Straight Outta Compton snagged three African American Film Critics Association honors this year including Best Picture, Best Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor for Jason Mitchell.

But the N.W.A. biopic wasn’t the only flick that had folks talking in 2015. Creed was a big winner, too.

Ryan Coogler scored Best Director, while Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson won Best Breakout Performance and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.

Concussion, which will be out this Christmas, and the controversial Chi-Raq also received nods.

Check out the full list of winners here. The actual ceremony will take place in Hollywood in February.
