If you’re craving more flicks about the hip-hop legends featured in Straight Outta Compton, your wish might be granted.
Welcome to Death Row, a book and documentary based on Suge Knight’s Death Row record label, could be the next box office smash, because it’s currently being shopped around as the sequel to Straight Outta Compton.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmakers have put together a package, hoping to land a major studio deal like its predecessor.
While Straight Outta Compton zoomed in on the lives of N.W.A. members, Welcome to Death Row would spotlight emcees, including Snoop Dogg and Tupac, who came along after the “F**k Da Police” group disbanded.
Welcome to Death Row has yet to secure music rights – unlike its forerunner. That could complicate the process, but another motion picture about 90s rap culture might be in high demand after Compton‘s success.
No further details on casting or release dates, but stay tuned.
