Spike Lee is not excited about Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated film, Django Unchained.  According to VIBE TV, Lee finds the film “disrespectful” toward his African ancestors and says that he has no plans on seeing it.  Lee even tweeted his feelings about the film saying, “American slavery was not a Sergio Leone spaghetti western. It was a Holocaust. My ancestors are slaves. Stolen from Africa. I will honor them.”  Though the film has been receiving praise in its early reviews, Lee’s point of the excessive use of the “n-word” has caused some controversy around the film.

This is not the first time Lee has petitioned against one of Tarantino’s films, according to The Grio. In 1997 Lee and Tarantino began feuding over the use of the “n-word” in Jackie Brown and the two filmmakers haven’t gotten along since.
